Patricio and Gabriel are web developers trying to raise funds to create Kaya.gs, Social Go Server; a place where Go players can enjoy the game and the community can participate actively in spreading Go.
Gabriel Benmergui is a 6-Dan level player with over 9 years of experience in the game. Kaya.gs is born from his desire to make Go more accesible and popular and to make it much better and easier for players to share their experiences and knowledge.
In Kaya.gs you will be able to play Go with any web browser, including mobile devices. It will be the most accessible and open Go Server ever designed.
Once inside the server, players will have access to a wealth of Go information such as videos, classes, books, tournaments, all elements generated by the community itself.
Figure being able to watch a game and at the same time, look at a video feed with the players and/or a strong player commenting, just like it is on TV. Or accessing training materials where you can set up a schedule to practice for tournaments.
Or have a 24/7 Go school, that you can sign up for and get lessons and classes at anytime. Or beginner courses to teach players the game from scratch.
There is so much more we can do online with Go and Kaya is about making all feasible ideas possible.
Once the server is solid, we will start integrating existing websites and systems that organize and promote Go related activities such as leagues and tournaments, Go e-video shows and more.
Go is not just a game. For passionate go players, its a way of life. Go players start a journey that lasts a life time and sharing your time with other Go players is as natural as talking.
Kaya.gs is about letting the most passionate and strong players share their wealth and excitement of the game, and be able to make a living by helping other people learn and enjoy Go.
This game is wonderful. Those who don’t know it should learn about it, and those who know it should learn even more about it.
The plan is ambitious and to make an outstanding quality service, we need time. Patricio and Gabriel are ready to quit their day-jobs and work exclusively on this project.
Once the sever goes public, we will start integrating and helping other Go enthusiasts grow their contributions to the Go community.
Getting this funding will help us build the first version, which is the first step of building a rich and active community. Kaya.gs will be a milestone in the 4000 year old history of Go, the milestone where the game becomes accessible for beginners, advanced and professional players all around the world.
Our Objective is to make everyone that wants to share the amazing experience of this game able to do so.
